About this chapterOften read as a continuation of Psalm 42, it repeats the same refrain. The writer asks God to defend him against a faithless people and deceitful, unjust men. Why has God seemingly rejected him and left him mourning under oppression? He prays for God's light and truth to lead him to the holy hill and to God's altar, where he will praise with the harp. Again he tells his downcast soul to put its hope in God, his savior and his God.

Psalms 43

Berean Standard Bible5 verses · 1 min read

1Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; deliver me from deceitful and unjust men. 2For You are the God of my refuge. Why have You rejected me? Why must I walk in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression? 3Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain and to the place where You dwell. 4Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my greatest joy. I will praise You with the harp, O God, my God. 5Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
